Amplification: Experience is the Best Teacher

Amplification: Experience is the Best Teacher

The proverb "Experience is the best teacher" means that what we learn by doing things ourselves and facing real-life situations is far more valuable and permanent than what we only read in textbooks or hear from others.

Books and teachers give us theoretical knowledge, rules, and advice. However, that knowledge remains abstract until we apply it in the real world. For example, a person can read many books on how to swim or ride a bicycle, but they will never actually learn until they step into the water or sit on the saddle and balance themselves. Falling down, making mistakes, and trying again teaches the body and mind what no book can explain.

Experience teaches through personal consequences. When a child touches a hot cup of tea and feels the pain, they immediately understand what heat does and will never touch a hot object carelessly again. A single burn teaches caution faster than a hundred warnings from parents.

Life is full of challenges, failures, and successes. When we face difficulties firsthand, we develop patience, courage, practical wisdom, and maturity. Therefore, while bookish learning gives us the foundation, practical experience is the greatest and most reliable teacher in life.

Assamese Translation (অসমীয়া ভাঙনি)
